Questions We Hear a Lot

What will my move run me?

It hinges on two things: how much you are hauling and how tricky the access is. A crew of two with a truck starts at $110/hr, and an itemized written estimate lands in front of you before we pick up a single box. Want a ceiling you can count on? Ask for a flat cap and the number you sign is the most you will ever pay. Out-of-state jobs are quoted by weight and mileage.

How do you deal with the San Antonio heat?

We start at sunrise so the bulk of the loading is behind us before the afternoon hits triple digits. The crew keeps water close, we park the truck in shade when there is any, and we wrap anything the heat can hurt, candles, electronics, vinyl, artwork, so a 100-degree day leaves everything untouched.

Do you handle military and PCS moves?

Absolutely, this is Military City, and base moves are a big slice of what we do. We pick up and deliver on post at Fort Sam Houston, Lackland, and Randolph, work around your PCS timeline and paperwork, and can full-pack a government or personally-procured move. Ask about our thank-you rate for active-duty and veterans.

I’m in an older home in King William or Monte Vista. Can you manage it?

That is right in our wheelhouse. The historic districts, King William, Monte Vista, Alamo Heights, Dignowity Hill, come with narrow doorways, deep porches, and steep original staircases. We measure the tight spots, pad the banisters and door frames, and hand-carry or hoist anything that will not make the turn.

My place is in a gated Stone Oak community with an HOA. Is that an issue?

Not a bit, most of the far North Side works exactly this way. Drop the gate code and HOA rules into your booking and we get the crew onto the guard list, lock in the move-in window, and file whatever certificate of insurance or deposit the association asks for, so the truck is never left waiting at the entrance.

When does the meter start?

It starts the minute the crew gets to work at your place, not the minute we leave the yard. Past the first hour we bill by the minute, so a job that lands at an hour and ten is charged for exactly that, not two full hours. We spell out the crew rate and how travel time is counted before we touch a thing.

Do you take a deposit?

Only a small refundable one to hold your date, and it rolls straight onto your final total as a credit, so it is never money out the door. Cancel with a couple of days’ heads-up and it comes back in full. It is all laid out on your booking from day one.

How and when do I settle up?

You settle up once the work is finished, never before. We take every major card, plus check and cash. Before the crew pulls out, you eyeball the final total and approve it right there on the spot.

Are tips expected?

Nope, and nothing ever gets slipped onto the invoice. If a crew knocks it out of the park, folks tend to split ten to fifteen percent between them, cash or card, but that call is 100 percent yours.

Is there anything you won’t load?

A short list, mostly for safety and the law: propane, gasoline, paint, and other flammables, along with ammunition, live plants, food that can spoil, and pets. Anything oversized, unusually heavy, or high-value, mention it at booking so the right crew and equipment show up.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. SA Moving Guys carries Texas household-goods authority and full insurance, and every job rides with our own crew from start to finish, no broker taking a cut in the middle. Curious about the authority numbers or the coverage? Ask away, and we will explain your valuation choices before you commit to anything.

What if a piece gets damaged?

Good wrapping keeps it rare, but on the odd chance it happens we log it on the spot and open the claim that same day. Before we roll, we explain released versus full-value coverage, so you know exactly how a claim would be handled.

How far out should I book?

For most local moves, ten days to two weeks does the trick. Month-end and the summer PCS rush book up quick, so stretch that to three or four weeks then, and a bit more for a Saturday. Short-notice slots still open up, though, so a quick call is always worth a shot.

Do you move pianos, gun safes, and pool tables?

Yes, and by folks who do it week in and week out. An upright or a grand, a heavy gun safe, a slate pool table, an heirloom, a framed canvas, each rides on the right board or dolly with proper straps and pads, and we crate a piece to fit when it earns it.

Will you handle the packing?

As much or as little as you like. Want the whole house boxed up? Done. Just the kitchen and the art? Also done. We roll up with real cartons and paper, mark every box by room, and can unpack you at the new place once the truck is clear.

Do you move out of state?

Sure do. It rides on one of our trucks with one of our crews start to finish, no brokers, nothing shifted into another company’s trailer at a depot, and a delivery window you can genuinely schedule your week around.

Do you have storage?

We do. A short couple of weeks between closings, or a run of months while the next place lines up, your things sit in a clean, locked space with everything itemized. Our crew hauls it in and back out, so you are never on the hook for a second truck rental.

I’m moving to San Antonio from out of town. Can you help?

Definitely, a good chunk of our work is folks landing here, plenty of them PCSing in. We coordinate the delivery window, meet you at the new place, and take care of the gate, the base pass, or the HOA on this end. Your things ride on our truck with our crew, never passed off to whoever underbids everyone that week.

Can I move or cancel my date?

For sure. Move the date or call it off with at least a couple of days’ heads-up, and your deposit is returned in full. Every term is spelled out plainly in your booking, so nothing is left to guesswork.
